"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die." - Thomas Campbell
Geraldine Ferraro, who in 1984 became the first woman to run for vice president on a major party ticket, died shortly before 10 am today, Saturday, March 26, 2011. She was 75. She was being treated for blood cancer.
May she rest in peace. Good bye, Geraldine.
On this long storm the rainbow rose,
On this late morn the sun;
The clouds, like listless elephants,
Horizons straggled down.
The birds rose smiling in their nests,
The gales indeed were done;
Alas! how heedless were the eyes
On whom the summer shone!
The quiet nonchalance of death
No daybreak can bestir;
The slow archangel's syllables
Must awaken her.

Another good woman is gone.
ReplyDeleteI remember her speech very well. She was such an intelligent lady and we missed our chance to have her be a great leader. Our time will come...
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary.
